2017/2018 Charity Committee

Sandy Kaufman – Nancy Osterman

We are very excited for another great year of sharing our loving creations with those who need it most and are hoping that you will be part of the giving.

We have chosen to focus on Heart to Heart Home Hospice Care and Haven.  Both organizations would like lap/nap size (50” by 60”) and wheelchair size (36” by 48”).

They would also like pillowcases.

Children’s quilts will go to Haven and should be made with children’s fabrics.

We will donate any patriotic or red/white/blue lap or wheelchair size quilts to a Veterans organization.

Since the lap/wheelchair quilts are for either gender, all fabric styles and types are welcome including patriotic ones.  There are plenty of veterans in area nursing homes who would love to be honored with a quilt.  Baby quilts can be a simple panel to which you add some borders or as involved as you like, it’s totally up to you.

Due to the smaller sizes we encourage you to machine quilt them yourself and we welcome any of you who enjoy this aspect or that have a longarm to quilt some of the tops that are pieced and in need of quilting.  This is the perfect opportunity to practice on a real quilt and at the same time do something wonderful for someone in need without a huge time commitment.

Why not challenge yourself to make or participate in one more charity quilt than you did last year!  Or if you are new to the guild or have never participated, we’ve made it even easier.  We have kits of blocks to be put together into tops, kits with top, batting and backing to be quilted and quilts that only need binding and label attached.

Please participate – this is what our guild is about – a non-profit that gives back to our communities!
