We Love Charity!!

Great Lakes Heritage Quilters is dedicated to sharing quilted creations across Metro Detroit and statewide throughout Michigan!

In 2023, we donated pillowcases, dignity bibs, over 232 quilts, 203 placemats, and 143 mastectomy pillows (with the majority going to low-income patients).

The charities we supported included Heart to Heart Hospice, Haven of Oakland County, Bloomfield Hills Police Department, Children's Village, Trinity Health, McLaren Pontiac Karmanos Cancer Center, McLaren Lapeer Karmanos Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels, Tiny Miracles of Michigan, Lighthouse, seniors living in assisted living and memory care, and victims of a multi-unit apartment fire.

2023-2024 Charity Efforts

The Great Lakes Heritage Quilters have a long history of supporting our community!

This year we are supporting the following charities:

Heart to Heart Hospice - lap size quilts
Beaumont/Corwell Cardiac Care Unit - travel pillowcase covers

Karmanos Cancer Center - mastectomy pillows.
Tiny Miracles of Michigan - Baby quilts, roughly 30"x30"

NEW! Cardiac Care Pillowcases

Beaumont/Corwell Health gives a pillow to each patient who has had open heart surgery. They use the pillow to brace their chest when they cough. They would love pillow covers for the pillows.

We Like to Improve Our Skills!

We provide opportunities for our members to improve their quilting skills through lectures, workshops, sewing days, retreats, charity projects, a yearly challenge quilt, and the mystery quilt.

Great Lakes Heritage Quilters is a terrific guild! We have members with various levels of skill and expertise. Here are a couple of our favorite annual events:

Challenge Quilt

Every year our guild has a challenge for members! This is a great opportunity to push the envelope and try new techniques! Our Challenge Quilt for 2024 was announced at our September meeting and members can find more information in the Members' Only Section of the website.

Mystery Quilt Day

Each winter our guild creates a Mystery Quilt Day where clues are provided to participants for a mystery project! Members and Non-Members may participate in this FUNdraiser! Enrollment is open now! Click here to check out the 2024 GLHQ Mystery Quilt Along!
